BrainWise and the Kids Brain Conference

Posted On: July 23, 2004

In May, Dr. Barry was asked to present on the BrainWise Program at the 5th Annual Kids Brain Conference held at Metropolitan State College in Denver.  Joining her in the presentation was Wendy Cameron, an award-winning Denver Public Schools teacher-and the University Park Elementary School kindergartners.  Ms. Cameron was instrumental in helping to develop a BrainWise K-5 curriculum by field-testing the program at University Park.  Work with the kindergartners has shown that the concepts of the BrainWise program can be successfully taught to and retained by young children.  As Ms. Cameron stated:

“In more than twenty years of teaching, I have never used a program that is so concise and easy to teach. BrainWise helps children as young as four understand that how they think affects how they act. School discipline problems are far less, and children understand both sides of a problem. It also gives me tools to help children discuss and understand difficult subjects like the Columbine violence, 9-1 1 and war.”
